What all can you do with an ipad to take the place of an iphone?
Question by : What all can you do with an ipad to take the place of an iphone?
I am about to start med school & have heard the ipad is a very useful tool. Is it easy to download the books & notes onto? Also, how is it for checking email or sending things such as pictures like you would on a phone? Lastly, what would i be looking at cost-wise: not just for the ipad its self but for a monthly plan?

I have never had an iPad but I have an iPod touch, and you I downloaded a texting app(:
I text a lot, and I was worried it would cost me a lot, but the texting is free. However, if you wanna call, you get so many free ones, then I think you have to buy minutes. Hopefully it's an iPad app! On an iPad/iPod there is no monthly plan, as it's not a phone. The app was free. As long as you have wifi, you'll be able to check your email. Hope this helps!

Should I get an iPad or an eReader?
Question by octoberbabycadi: Should I get an iPad or an eReader?
I've been looking at both Nooks, Kobos and iPads. While the iPad is a lot more expensive, it can do a lot more things, and it has a lot more features, and apps you can buy for it. Would I be able to download and read books on an iPad if I got one? What App would I need? Or should I look at eReader tablets instead?

The iPad comes with iBooks. You can download and read books from the Apple App Store.
If all you are looking for is something to read with, I would not suggest the iPad as it's battery life is only 7 hours, or 10 for the iPad2.
There are other ereaders that boast a battery life of weeks or a month.
Just know that each ereader has their own format for the ebooks, and don't expect to be able to use different ones to read the same book.

nook, ipad, kindle — just for reading electronically?
Question by Calli: nook, ipad, kindle -- just for reading electronically?
I am getting an electronic book thing but i cannot decide between an ipad, kindle, and nook. For a kindle and nook can you wirelessly download books on the go or do you have to hook them up to a computer and download a book. Opinions on which one of the three i should get?

iPad is, by far, the best. It also includes Kindle and Nook apps so you can read, buy and download books on the go from all three: iBooks, Kindle and Nook, plus you can do a lot more on iPad.
You can watch the guided tours http://www.apple.com/ipad/guided-tours/
It has a great IPS screen and to anyone who actually tried to read on one it was a lot better experience than any ebook reader. If the price is not an issue I highly recommend iPad.

Please suggest an iPad for my 9 year old daughter?
Question by tomlawbcs: Please suggest an iPad for my 9 year old daughter?
I know nothing about this stuff. Do they have many different models to choose from?
She will use it for: games, math and educational apps, downloading books we can read together. And I know she'll want to take pictures and video.
